Paris to New York: Prepare the Airport Connection at Both Ends
Coordinate the Paris departure and JFK arrival through current airline answers, accurate baggage details and a landside reunion plan.

Base the JFK meeting plan on the traveler reaching a named landside point, not on the scheduled touchdown. Before leaving Paris, work backward from that reunion: verify the operating airport and airline, settle the lounge question from a current airline source, record the checked-bag position and give the person meeting the flight a fallback plan.
Lock the Paris departure facts before leaving the city
Read the current itinerary as an operating document. Record the Paris airport code, departure terminal, operating airline and flight reference. If the journey starts at Charles de Gaulle, use CDG when checking the route and terminal rather than relying on “Paris airport” in messages or calendar entries.
Confirm these details through the airline’s current official channel before arranging the journey from the hotel or accommodation. A terminal should not be inferred from an earlier trip, and the marketing airline shown prominently on a ticket should not replace the operating-airline information when asking about check-in, baggage or lounge eligibility.
Build the departure around the airline’s stated check-in and boarding requirements. Keep passports and entry documents accessible, disclose checked and oversized baggage when arranging the ride, and select a departure margin that accounts for the route to the airport as well as the formalities inside it. The useful target is arrival at the correct terminal with enough time for the airline’s live process, not arrival somewhere on the airport site.
Ask the airline the lounge questions that matter
Treat lounge access as an optional part of the departure rather than a fixed feature of the ticket. Ask the operating airline whether the exact itinerary and traveler status provide access, which lounge applies, where it sits in relation to security, whether guest access is included and whether any same-day boarding pass or membership evidence must be presented. Request an answer that refers to the current journey, not to the card or status in isolation.
Save the airline’s current answer with the travel documents. If access is not confirmed, keep the departure plan independent of the lounge: complete the required formalities, identify the gate area and use the facilities available to the traveler without assuming admission.
Keep JFK entry and baggage outside the pickup clock
Prepare the arrival as a sequence rather than a single time. After landing, follow the current airport and border instructions that apply to the traveler’s documents. Keep the destination address, accommodation details and onward contact information accessible without depending on airport Wi-Fi or a companion’s phone.
At the Paris bag-drop desk, check the destination printed on every baggage tag and retain the receipts. The traveler meeting a bag at JFK should know its appearance and distinguishing features. Cabin essentials, medication and documents should remain separate from checked baggage according to the airline’s current carriage rules.
A pickup based on touchdown ignores aircraft disembarkation, entry processing and baggage reclaim. Instead of promising an exit time, agree that the traveler will send an update only after reaching a point where communication is permitted and practical. If a checked bag does not appear, the traveler should follow the airline or airport reporting process before leaving the relevant area, while the person waiting follows the agreed fallback instructions.
Make the JFK reunion unambiguous
Choose a landside meeting point described by terminal, level and a stable physical feature. “Outside arrivals” is too broad for companions navigating independently. Share the flight reference as well as the scheduled arrival, then recheck the live operating information before the meeting journey begins.
Agree on a backup point and a communication method in advance. The waiting person should know what to do if the arrival terminal changes, messages are delayed or the traveler remains inside the formalities area. For a pre-arranged ride, retain the provider’s actual confirmation and support details; a request, estimate or itinerary note does not by itself establish vehicle assignment or price.
Airport arrival checklist: confirm the operating flight, Paris airport and terminal; obtain the airline’s current lounge answer; verify passports, entry documents and baggage tags; save the JFK arrival terminal; share a precise landside meeting point and fallback; and retain the onward provider’s confirmation. The ONNN journey planner can help describe the airport journey and passenger requirements, but it does not promise a booking confirmation or price.
